La Bouchee identity design

La Bouchee is a bakery shop which is specialized only in making cakes.

The client requested a logo design for the shop and since it’s a new start-up business there were no previous designs or guidelines so based on our concepts the shop will develop the entire look and the stationery items.

La Bouchee is a French word which means “Bite” and since the business is going to focus %100 on selling cake, we thought of these elements and put them in use for creating an identity.

Proposed design 1 – Typography


Our initials proposal was to have the name of the shop as a logo, so we found a very suitable script for the English name and once we finalized it and it was altered to the final look, we created the Arabic version which matched the English by sketching it.

Proposed design 2 – Monograms with Bite


Here we presented the logo by incorporating the idea of “Bite” with the “LB” monogram which can be either used together or separately for different purposes.
We also suggested various color options which  made the identity stand out.
This was our recommended design for the client but ultimately the client requested to have the cake illustration as a logo so below was the chosen idea.

Chosen Design:

The client wanted to combine 3 elements Bite + Cake + Typography so we did a lot of experimenting and presented different concepts and this was the final selected and approved design.

The final look of the logo was carried out on other stationery items such as invoice layout, boxes packaging & business card.

The shop will be located in Abu Dhabi – Western Region, wishing them all the best.

inside our design process

  

The design of your company’s identity is one of the key elements to create your brand image & strategy.  In UAE, still large numbers of potential clients and business owners go to amateur designers to create their whole business identity either because they don’t have any background knowledge in design, brand, marketing or they are looking for a cheap design plan.

Here we would like to highlight one of the projects which we worked on & show how we approached and presented the designs for company’s identity system.

IMMUNIT Middle East LLC
The client (IMMUNIT); professionals in security consultancy, came to us with their previous designs (logo, business card, envelope, letterhead, brochure & website). The company’s old artwork was created by an amateur designer which we could tell instantly once we looked at the files. 

Amateur designers won’t provide the final designs in multiple formats such as bitmaps & vectors, each one of these formats serves a different purpose (Bitmap is used for screen viewing & websites whereas Vector is used for printed materials). With IMMUNIT artwork, all the files were created in Photoshop with CMYK colors, and the sizes were too large (single PSD file for letterhead 30 MB / logo PSD file 20 MB—bigger file doesn’t mean higher quality) and also they were  in low-res, which wouldn’t work for printing anyway. The client was never quite satisfied with the outcome.  So after taking the full brief we re-developed the logo and the full identity system.

The client wanted to keep the concept of the previous logo, so taking that in mind (the old logo was as PSD /CMYK) we re-created it as a vector file from scratch. With our new version we defined only 2 spot colors for the company’s corporate color palette (this will keep the cost of the printed material down) & working with these 2 shades we gave the 3D effect for the logo. We also improved the design simply by using a new font as the previous one was overpowering the whole look.

Once we finalized the logo, we applied the new approach to the client’s overall identity system and also created their corporate website.

The result is more consistent, simple, professional, young and approachable brand presence for IMMUNIT.

آخر صيحات بطاقات الاعراس لعام 2010

تعتبر بطاقات الأفراح من العناصر المهمة والمكملة لأي حفل زفاف، وهي التي تنقل الفكرة الأولى عن المتوقع سواء لألوان أو موضوع العرس، وفي عصر التكنولوجيا مازالت البطاقات المطبوعة مطلوبة، والناس بعدها تقدر استلام البطاقة من العائلة والأحبة لأنها تحسسهم بقيمتهم وأهمية حضورهم لاكتمال فرحة العرسان.

ومن الشائع بين الناس إن البطاقة شغلتها بس تخبر المعازيم بموعد العرس وبعدها تنرمي في سلة المهملات، وطبعاً هالشي يعتمد على تأثر الشخص بالبطاقة اللي توصله، فالحلو أن العروس تتلقى المديح من المدعوات على تصميم بطاقتها وتعليق مثل “بطاقتج روعة وتعبر 100% عن شخصيتج” أو “التصميم أكثر من رائع وبحتفظ بالبطاقة كعمل فني”..الخ، فالتصميم يعتمد غالباً على ذوق العروس والمعرس ومعظم الوقت على موضوع الزفاف وألوان الكوشة

بالنسبة للمقبلين على الزواج خلال 2010 هالسنة فيها ألوان زاهية ومتنوعة، على حسب التقرير الصادر من مؤسسة “بانتون PANTONE” اللون الرئيسي لـ 2010 بيكون اللون التركوازي (Turquise15-5519) ،وكذلك استعرضت مجموعة من الألوان واللي بتظهر بشكل مكثف من خلال دور عرض الأزياء ومنها (الأصفر والبنفسجي والأحمر والمرجاني والوردي…):

ومن الأشكال الي نتوقع الناس تقبل عليها بشكل كبير  بتطبيقها في التصميم: استخدام القصات المبتكرة (die-cuts) مع البطاقة، مثل إبراز تاريخ الزفاف بدل أسماء العوايل، أو دمج اسم المعرس والعروس بطريقة فنية، واستخدام الألوان الجريئة مثل ألوان 2010 المذكورة أو مثل الأحمر والأسود اللي تعطي انطباع قوي عند المعازيم وطبعاً الألوان التقليدية بتكون دايماً موجودة بس يتم دمجها ويا الطرق الحديثة.

وبعيد عن الألوان، البطاقة ممكن تكون شي خارج عن المألوف تعبر عن اهتمام وهوايات العروس أو المعرس، وفي مثال رائع عن بطاقة تعبر عن حب العروس لقراية الكتب والروايات فتم تصميم البطاقة على شكل كتاب وكان عمل يدوي مع طباعة، والبطاقة أبهرت جميع المدعوين والكل حب الفكرة وتم نشر الصور في كل المدونات وصفحات الانترنت:

والتذكير الدايم لكل المقبلين على تجهيز حفل زفافهم إن يخصصون وقت كافي لتصميم بطاقتهم خاصةً اذا بغوا شي مميز يبقى كذكرى ويحتفظ فيه، أولا وأخيراً البطاقة راح تعبر عن مناسبتهم و تعطي انطباع عن شخصيتهم للعالم.
